During my Freshman and Sophomore year at CMU, I was a member of the Alternative Breaks Executive Board. As a Freshman, I was the Public Relations and Multimedia Intern. I then became PR Chair for Alternative Breaks and took on more responsibilities. During my time on AB Board, among other responsibilities, I helped host AB events and gave educational speeches on Alternative Break's social media presence, helped make decisions on behalf of the program and was a mandatory reporter for the safety and protection of participating students.
As a long-time staff member of the Mary Ellen Brandell Volunteer Center, I am a campus leader and often serve as a resource for students and friends on volunteer info, academic guidance, school and state resources, social justice information, etc.
I was elected as Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority's PR Coordinator for 2021 and had the opportunity to showcase and support my Sorority through Public Relations.
Being Editor-In-Chief in high school really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I personally have a difficult time public speaking and having to address the class almost every day during my Senior year made me a lot more comfortable talking in front of a large group of people. We had two hours of class since we had so many people sign up to take the class. Our staff consisted of almost 40 members, so communication was very important. I have always been a calm communicator and level-headed person, and am a good problem solver. Being in yearbook has made me further those skills and prepared me for the future more than any class at our school could. I also took a public speaking class here at CMU and having been continuing to improve my skills. I recently had the privilege to give a presentation at an on-campus Anti-Racist event on behalf of the Volunteer Center.
